20 months old

This is how we usually end dinner lately... stripped of her clothes because she has totally trashed them with her food! Like, we have to take them off of her before we even let her out of the chair. M-e-s-s-y!

Finally got her to model one of her grass skirts Mimi and Papa brought back from Hawaii...she's sniffing the fake flower that came with it.

Finally deciding to eat a banana as we're ready to walk out the door for day care/work in the morning.

Amelia has really become interested in her "dollies". She carries them around the house, feeds, them, and covers them up with blankies.

She's finally gotten a lot more hair in the last month. Here, she looks at least 2 years old in her Hello Kitty outfit!

In the last month, Amelia has been to the doctor 5 times. She's tested positive for strep twice, supposedly been "fine" twice, and just this week we were given a steroid liquid and an inhaler to try and treat her cough that she's had for 6 weeks now. Doc says it's either allergies or the beginnings of childhood asthma. She can't be tested for allergies until she's two. Right now we're just kind of playing a guessing game, but we're ready to get rid of the cough and congestion! (Mommy and daddy have been passing it back and forth for the past month as well...we definitely need some wellness around here!) At least she's had a lot of practice letting the nurses and doctors examine her. She usually sits very still and claps for herself and says "Yay" after each check of her ears, nose, pulse, etc. The only thing we're still having trouble with is saying "aaaaaahhhh". I still have to tie her down in order for the doc to pry her mouth open with a tongue depressor. On the bright side, she's now progressed to quickly calming down and cheering for herself (through a few tears) when this part is over.
Amelia now weighs 27.5 pounds and is 34 inches tall. She repeats everything she hears and is talking up a storm. A lot of times we still don't understand her, but she seems to know what she's talking about! She's starting to put together two and three word phrases. And she love, love, loves to color, but she doesn't necessarily want anyone to color with her-just to sit and watch. She wants to watch Spongebob ALL THE TIME, which we only actually let her watch maybe one or two times a day. She wakes up asking for "Bob". Andy and I have watched this show for years, so we really don't mind that she loves that yellow sponge. She also enjoys Dora, Fraggle Rock, and the WonderPets. And yes, we still occasionally have to throw in Frosty aka "Bothty" the Snowman...even though it's March!
Amelia is also loving taking care of her pets Jenny, Gray-Gray, and Blackie. She gives Jenny a treat every time we go in the garage and she insists on getting the cat food out of the pantry and "pouring" it on the plate for the cats. She really is fun and cute at this stage, but I also have to say that she is quite challenging as well. Very small things will set her off to throwing a fit and she whines pretty often...which in my book is way worse than the fits! We still have our hands full, but she always knows how to reel us in like calling us into the room "Mama! Daddy!", insisting we kneel down to her, and then wrapping her arms around our necks and repeatedly giving us kisses. Seriously, this lasted a full five minutes one night-a big family bear hug! It was possibly the sweetest thing she's ever done...oh yeah, she knows how to string us along!

Jacob did the same thing, with strep and being sick right around 18 to 20 months we had to buy a nebulizer. Lucky for us Jacob out grew childhood asthma. One of the saddest things was that Jacob hated the treatments but once he knew that it helped him he would ask for a breathing treatment.
