First trip to the zoo

We made our first family trip to the zoo this past Wednesday. The weather's been so nice that we couldn't resist taking Amelia. Andy and I used to go to the zoo when we were dating all the time...even in January!!! I guess everyone had the same idea because boy, was it packed! After parking a half mile away, we were followed around by a very noisy group of youngsters that continually made Amelia cry from their excited screams. We had to ditch them really fast! The only animal we got up close and personal with was a cheetah who was making a very weird noise. Amelia seemed intrigued. At least for a split second. Then she was back to wanting OUT of the stroller and unfortunately, her cute flip flops did not agree with her walking. So we basically tried to keep her happy while we quickly strolled through to see the main animals. While searching desperately for the elephants, we happened upon several waterfalls which Amelia DOES NOT LIKE! She cried and cried (way past a nap due to the fact that the child simply will not sleep out in public), so we trekked our way back to the car and let her play in the grass, which made her very happy. A quick dinner on The Hill, and we were headed back home with a very tired baby who slept the entire ride. Note to self: buy a stroller that reclines ALL the way, and either get to the zoo much earlier or much later in the day!
